The Republican presidential candidate John McCain has forwarded a letter to Russia’s Permanent Mission at the UN asking for financial support for his campaign, according the RIA-Novosti news agency.
The Russian Mission that the letter was received and has rejected McCain’s request. Its press release issued on Monday said that Russia would not take part in financing political activities in foreign states.
The letter was addressed to Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin.
McCain is known as one of the harshest critics of Russia. He wants to exclude Russia from the G8 and considers the country to be the biggest threat to U.S. security.
