As far as I can see, most of the people he’s ripped off are themselves greedy bastards and probably deserved to get their fingers burned. Sadly, they in turn were the people who looked after ordinary people’s money, investments, pensions and more – and THAT’S the bottom line.
Madoff may have screwed the rich who could well afford it, but it is they who have (as usual) simply passed the costs and the grief on to us, the little guys.
Shit happens, but why is it always us who are pushed into the firing line when it hits the fan?
