There is a protest taking place in Houston today. Jordan Baker, a 26 year old unarmed black man, was shot and killed by a Houston Texas police officer, Juventino Castro, in January 2014.
Castro says that he was in a strip mall in Houston and saw Jordan Baker riding slowing through the strip mall, possibly casing the place for a future robbery. Castro said his line of thinking went in that direction because Baker matched the description (wearing a black hooded sweatshirt) of recent robbery suspects.
ABC13 stated back in January that Castro’s statement at the time was, that he asked “Baker for an I.D., he said there was a scuffle, and a footchase, with the officer finally cornering Baker in the alley. The officer told investigators Baker charged toward him, and that’s when he fired his gun.”
However, when evidence was submitted to the Grand Jury, the Houston Chronicle reports, “When Baker stopped running away, he reached into his waistband and charged the officer.”
Color me flabbergasted… Isn’t that the exact same thing that Witness 40 testified to the Ferguson Grand Jury that Michael Brown supposedly did to Darren Wilson? And it was proven that witness #40, Sandra McElroy, lied to police (and even though they knew she was lying they still let her lie–under oath–to the Grand Jury.)
No indictment, no justice for Mike Brown, Eric Garner, John Crawford III… No indictment and no justice for Jordan Baker either.
